to The Hall & Woodhaus Alpine Bar
at The Grasshopper
Now we know Poole isn’t traditionally known as a ski-village per se, but our resident experts in all things Alpine, a certain Mr Hall & Mr Woodhaus, have got everything planned for you down to the last pinecone. From delicious Steins of beer to Bratwurst rolls, from warming mulled Cider to scrumptious hot waffles… a magical Winter experience awaits you at our outdoor Hall & Woodhaus Alpine Bar.
Open from 12pm until 10pm every day, our Alpine Bar is not just piste-side chic, it’s also got heaters, great food and yummy drinks. That said, if you want to be extra snug, feel free to BYO blanket (note: they also make for an extremely good selfie, or so Mr Woodhaus advises us).
Even with our special Alpine Bar, your safety is always our number one concern. Our marquee has some open sides meaning it’s well ventilated and a safe place to meet friends. You can read more about our safety policy here. Due to the heavy snowfall* (*aka general excitement from the local community), we expect our Alpine Bar to be rather busy, socially distanced style of course.
Please note that due to current Government legislation, we can only accept bookings of up to 6 people. However, as The Alpine Bar is classed as outside with open sides, your group can be from multiple households, so wrap up warm and enjoy being at home in our Haus!
If you are planning to drink alcohol, you will need to purchase a meal in order to be compliant with current Government guidelines. Bookings will also be limited to 90 minutes each to help keep everybody safe.
12pm until close every day. The Hall & Woodhaus Alpine Bar will be open from 3rd December to 31st January.
Where is the Hall & Woodhaus Bar?
We’re at The Grasshopper in Parkstone, with a heated tent with some of the sides down meaning it counts as an outdoor structure. Please follow the signage for the entrance.
Do I need a booking?
Yes, we’d recommend you make a booking to avoid disappointment. Please note that your booking is not confirmed until you have received a call or email from us with details of your booking.
What is there to eat and drink?
You can view our food and drink menus above. If you are drinking alcohol at the Alpine Bar, you will need to purchase a meal to be compliant with the current Government guidelines. Please note our food and drink menus within the Alpine Bar are limited and different to our usual pub menu. If you want to book in for our traditional pub menu (which is fabulous too, by the way) please give us a call so we can try to adjust your booking and move you inside the pub. With regards to both our drinks menu at our Alpine Bar and also within the pub, we ask you to always please drink responsibly.
What should I wear?
We have heaters but you can expect it to be chilly so dress up warm! Also, if you happen to turn up in full ski gear there might be a little treat in store for you. Feel free to also BYO blanket if you want to be extra cosy.
Is there a fee to attend?
Of course not! Your presence at our Alpine Bar is payment enough. But please do make a booking enquiry online in advance to help us plan for your arrival.
Do you take cash/card?
At the moment, we only take card payments at our Alpine Bar.
How many people can I bring?
Current government regulations mean you can have a maximum group size of 6. However, as the Alpine Bar is classed as outside with open sides, your group can be from multiple households. Bookings at The Hall & Woodhaus Alpine Bar are limited to a maximum stay of 90 minutes.
What’s your Covid policy?
Your safety is our number one priority, always. You can read more about the guidelines we have set to keep you safe here. The marquee counts as an outside structure as we have some of the sides up during service hours. You will need a mask for entering and exiting the space, plus for any time away from your table, e.g. for using the bathrooms.
